Video to notes: a practical workflow for founders
Turn saved social videos into research you can use, with a source, a summary and a clear next step.
Your saved folder is a starting point
A founder’s feed can hold product demos, onboarding ideas, pricing lessons and customer complaints. The useful part is often a small detail. Saving the video preserves access, but it does not explain why the detail mattered to your project. Turning a video into notes gives that idea a place to become work.
Capture the reason, not just the link
Share a supported TikTok, Instagram Reel, YouTube video or X post to Scrollshelf. When processing finishes, read the summary and check the available transcript against the original source. Add one sentence of your own: “This matters because our new users get stuck at the same step.” That sentence connects someone else’s content to your situation.
Give the idea a next step
On your computer, open the note and separate three things: what the creator said, what you think it means, and what you want to test. A growth claim in a video is an observation to investigate, not a guarantee that the same tactic will work for your product. Keep the source link so you can revisit missing context.
A brief your assistant can actually use
Copy the context into your AI tool and add a narrow request: “Using this note, propose one onboarding experiment for a budgeting app. Separate source claims from assumptions. List what we must measure.” You can use Claude, Codex, ChatGPT or another assistant. Scrollshelf supplies text you choose to copy; it does not automatically run work in those tools.
Keep the loop small
Review a few notes before planning your week. Pick one idea to act on and write down the result. A useful library supports decisions; it does not need every interesting video on the internet.
